This 60-acre natural area in western Lenexa is currently known as the Clear Creek Wetlands. In the future, it will be developed into Centennial Park — a planned public space that will offer new amenities while preserving the site's unique environmental features.
Located between Clare Road and the surrounding neighborhoods of The Reserve and Clear Creek Estates, the space is already a peaceful retreat for walkers, runners and nature lovers. The Clear Creek Trail — a 10-foot-wide, 1.3-mile paved path — winds through the area, connecting Gleason and Clare roads. Along the way, visitors can enjoy views of ponds, open grasslands and native wetland habitats.
Originally acquired as part of Lenexa’s watershed management efforts, the site was developed in 2015 to provide regional stormwater detention and environmental protection. Future park planning will build on this foundation to create a vibrant community destination while continuing to support native wildlife and natural systems.
