Allan Winkler is a Kansas City-based artist and musician whose creative journey spans over five decades. Born in Chicago in 1953, he earned a degree in ceramics from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1975. Winkler is renowned for his whimsical paper and metal cutouts, ceramics, murals, and inventive use of found and recycled materials. His work often transforms everyday objects—like cardboard boxes and discarded metal—into vibrant, imaginative pieces that celebrate joy and human connection.

Winkler's art is characterized by a deliberately naïve style that invites viewers into a playful, yet thought-provoking world. His pieces, ranging from anthropomorphic cardboard faces to dynamic metal sculptures, reflect a deep appreciation for the beauty in the mundane. Through his art, Winkler encourages audiences to see the extraordinary in the ordinary, fostering a sense of wonder and community.
