Project purpose

This program provides on-going funding to replace a number of older streetlights in the City annually. The current average cost to replace a streetlight and pole is approximately $10,000.

Project description

Replace older streetlights with new modern energy efficient lights meeting current City standards. The project also provides matching funds for street lighting projects receiving Community Development Block Grant funding annually. Specific projects are identified annually.

  • 2024 Community Development Block Grant Street Lighting Project – 96th Terrace (Lenexa Drive to Monrovia Street) and Monrovia Street (96th Terrace to 99th Street)

  • Strang Line Road Street Lighting and Storm Drainage Improvements – College Boulevard to south city limits
  • 2025 Community Development Block Grant Street Lighting Project – Park Street, Candlelight Lane and Widmer Road 
  • Brighton Subdivision Storm Drainage Improvements
