Step 3.Selection process

The jury made up of Lenexa Arts Council members and city staff will review all entries after the application deadline. Artists will receive confirmation of acceptance and other details about the gallery show installation in January 2025.

Step 4.Judging and awards

Members of the Lenexa Arts Council and an unaffiliated external art professional will judge the entries after the display is installed in the gallery. Judges will consider the following criteria when selecting the winners:

  • Thematically represents something that the artist loves about Lenexa (statement of inspiration will be considered)
  • Creativity
  • Quality of submission

Award winners will be selected in three age categories. Judges award monetary prizes in various categories for exceptional artwork.

We welcome artists to enter up to three pieces. However, depending on the number of artists who apply, we may find that we are not able to accommodate multiple pieces due to space limitations. If that happens, the Lenexa Arts Council jurors will choose the piece(s) for display.
