Free fitness classes in September

Looking for a fun way to get moving this fall? Try select Group X classes for free during Fall Back to Fitness, Sept. 8–11, 2026, on the Lenexa civic campus.

Whether you're new to Group X or looking to mix up your fitness routine, this is a great opportunity to experience some of the Lenexa Rec Center's most popular classes. From yoga and strength training to Zumba® and bootcamp, there's something for every fitness level. No membership or registration is required — just bring a water bottle, invite a friend and join us.

Fall Back to Fitness classes have moved indoors. Due to the heat, classes on the civic campus have moved indoors to the Lenexa Rec Center. Participants should check in at the Welcome Desk when they arrive. Classes are now limited to 25 participants, so arrive early to secure your spot. We’ll see you inside!

  • Ages 16+.
  • Free and open to the public.
  • Bring a yoga mat if you have one.
  • In case of inclement weather, classes will move indoors. Please check in at the welcome desk if indoors.

Schedule

Tuesday, Sept. 8

10–10:45 a.m.: Lift & Row (Jackie)

This full-body workout challenges your strength and endurance with the use of various strength-training equipment and the rowing machines.

5:45–6:35 p.m.: Cardio Sculpt (Julia)

A total-body conditioning workout challenging each muscle group by increasing muscular strength and endurance using a variety of equipment and bodyweight.

Wednesday, Sept. 9

9–10 a.m.: Vinyasa Yoga (Erica)

Continuous, flowing progressions of dynamic yoga poses and postures.

5:30–6:30 p.m.: Zumba® (Stacy/Libby)

A cardio dance class that feels more like a party than an exercise class.

Thursday, Sept. 10

8:30–9:15 a.m.: Barbell Strength (Diana)

Plate-loaded barbells enhance muscular endurance and strength using basic weight-lifting techniques.

5:30–6:30 p.m.: Yoga Fusion (Theresa)

This class explores different styles and yoga practices to challenge your mind and body.

Friday, Sept. 11

9:15–10 a.m.: Bootcamp (Laura)

Challenges the cardiovascular, pulmonary and musculoskeletal systems using a variety of fitness equipment and body weight exercises.

11–11:45 a.m.: Step Up (Jackie)

Beginner-friendly cardio and dance aerobics class inspired by classic step routines and powered by feelgood rhythms.
