Rec Center Group X Fitness Classes

Group X class participants

We offer more than 50 Group X fitness classes each week at a variety of times to fit your schedule and preferences. These classes range from low-impact strength to high-impact cardio and water-based activities.

Admission

  • X Pass Members: All Group X fitness classes are included with membership.
  • Core Pass Members: Individual classes are $7. A 10-class punch card is $63. Purchase these at the Rec Center welcome desk.
  • Nonmembers: Get a day pass to the facility ($9 resident discount/$12 regular rate), which includes admission to a Group X fitness class. Purchase this at the Rec Center welcome desk.

How to attend

You may attend Group X classes with an X-Pass membership or by purchasing a single-day or class pass. Participants must be age 16 or older. Youth ages 12–15 may attend after completing a youth equipment orientation.

Please check in individually at the welcome desk before each class to receive your class card. Class cards are required for entry and are collected by the instructor before class begins.

Classes are first come, first served and limited to 25 participants based on space and equipment availability. We cannot hold spots or add participants once a class is full. Please arrive 5–10 minutes early. Late entry is not allowed more than 5 minutes after the scheduled start time.

We reserve the right to cancel classes with fewer than five participants.


Class descriptions

Aqua

Aqua Intervals: This aqua fitness class combines cardio, strength and flexibility exercises designed to improve balance, boost endurance and enhance overall wellness all done in the heated wellness pool.

Aqua Toning: Resistance exercises performed in the shallow areas of the pool enhance overall muscular strength and endurance.

Current Fitness: Uses the resistance and assistance of the current in the Rec Center's lazy river. Exercises involve aqua equipment and/or flotation devices work to enhance cardiorespiratory fitness, strength, stability and balance.

Fluid Fitness: A refreshing, full-body aqua workout that blends cardio, strength and mobility into one feel-good class. Using the natural resistance and support of the water, you’ll build strength, improve balance, and boost endurance — all while being gentle on the joints.

Cardio/Strength

45 Strong: The ultimate four-day-per-week fitness class designed to give you balance between strength training and recovery. This 45-minute class alternates daily between upper and lower body focuses daily. Each week will explore different training techniques such as pyramid sets, drop sets, functional mobility work and other various techniques. Perfect for all fitness levels.

Barbell Strength: Plate-loaded barbells enhance muscular endurance and strength using basic weight-lifting techniques.

Boot Camp: Challenges the cardiovascular, pulmonary and musculoskeletal systems using a variety of fitness equipment and body weight exercises. 

Cardio Sculpt: A total-body conditioning workout challenging each muscle group by increasing muscular strength and endurance using a variety of equipment and bodyweight.

Circuit Training: Allows you to fit a huge variety of movements into your workout — meaning a full-body challenge, and none of the boredom that can come with repetitive exercises.

Core & More: Focuses on abs, glutes and core muscles using various movement patterns and equipment.

Forever Fit: Designed to help active seniors increase cardiovascular endurance, strength and improve balance through the use of weights, dancing and range of motion.

Lift - Row: This full-body workout challenges your strength and endurance with the use of various strength-training equipment and the rowing machines.

Pilates Fusion: Combines mat Pilates basics and yoga, allowing you to feel the burn and gain strength in a low-impact format.

Pump & Sculpt: Push your body’s strength and cardiovascular endurance with various body-weight and weighted exercises to get your muscles and heart rate pumping.

Rise(r): Rise to the challenge with a high-energy, full-body workout that blends step aerobics, cardio dance and light strength training set to a mix of throwback hits and today's hottest tracks. This intermediate-level class moves at a faster pace with more intricate choreography, designed to enhance endurance, coordination and overall fitness. Whether you're an experienced stepper or just love to move, this class brings intensity, rhythm, and fun. Prior experience is helpful, but the real essentials are attitude and a willingness to rise.

Saturday Smash: It’s the weekend! Come ready for a fun — yet challenging — workout class. Be ready to move, sweat, and build some muscle in this pumped-up 45-minute class. All levels welcome.

SilverSneakers® Classic: Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. A chair is used for seated or standing support.

Step Up: Step into fitness with a beginner-friendly cardio and dance aerobics class inspired by classic step routines and powered by feelgood rhythms. This low-impact, high-energy workout is designed to boost cardiovascular health, improve coordination, and reignite the joy of movement-with plenty of '80s and '90s throwback vibes. Whether you're brand new to fitness or lacing up your Reeboks for the first time in years, you'll find a welcoming, music-driven environment that encourages movement, fun and community.

Strengthen & Stretch: This is a low-impact, 30-minute class to help keep you feeling good through the day by learning the importance of optimizing your body’s range of motion, flexibility, balance, and strength. It uses multiple methods of stretching and strength training.

TRX® Knock Out: Overhead straps leverage body weight against gravity to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability. In addition to strength training and cardio boxing blasts.

Zumba®: A cardio dance class that feels more like a party than an exercise class.

Cycle

Cycle: Energizing music motivates participants on indoor stationary exercise bicycles through various challenges and personal competitions.

Cycle - Lift - Row: Enjoy a rotation of cycle/rowing and lifting to keep your heart rate pumping.

Spin & Sculpt: Pick your bike, weights, and get ready for a full-body workout that will challenge your cardio strength and endurance using various strength training equipment and body weight.

Mind + Body

Barre Fitness: Inspired by dance, Pilates, yoga and more, this class develops total body strength, flexibility, balance and posture.

Chair Yoga: A gentle yoga class that uses a chair for seated and standing support.

Gentle Yoga: A gentle introduction to yoga with flowing progressions of beginner yoga poses, postures and stretches.

Hatha Yoga: Deepen your understanding of the postures and basic alignment in the body, breathing and relaxation techniques.

Restorative Yoga: Relax and reinvigorate the body with gentle yoga poses held for prolonged periods of time using props and breathing techniques.

Stretch and Roll: Explore the importance of optimizing your body’s range of motion, flexibility, balance and strength by using multiple methods, including yoga, foam rollers and stability balls.

Vinyasa Yoga: Continuous, flowing progressions of dynamic yoga poses and postures.

Yoga: Each class will focus on the progression of beginner yoga poses, postures and stretches. Each instructor creates their own class rhythm and lets your body be your guide. Classes typically include standing poses, twists, balancing poses and restorative poses.

Yoga Fusion: This diverse class will explore different styles and yoga practices. The goal of this class is to explore different techniques to challenge your mind and body.


Fitness class rules

  1. Please inform the instructor of any injuries, special needs or needed modifications before class begins.

  2. Wear appropriate athletic attire and closed-toe athletic shoes unless the class format calls for bare feet, such as yoga or Pilates. Bring water to stay hydrated.

  3. Silence cell phones before class. Cell phone use is not permitted in Group X studios.

  4. Store personal items in lockers outside the studios. We are not responsible for lost items.

  5. Equipment is for class use only and may not be removed from the studios. Studios close between classes.

  6. Instructors and staff may ask participants to leave if guidelines are not followed or if class safety is at risk.
