Rec Center Equipment Orientations

Equipment orientations are a great way to learn how to use the fitness equipment at the Lenexa Rec Center. They will help you become more comfortable and confident while exercising.

One equipment orientation per year is included with your membership (ages 16+), and we will customize it to your interests.

Youth equipment orientations

Access to our fitness equipment and Group X classes is intended for patrons who are age 16 or older. But youth ages 12–15 can be granted access after they complete a youth equipment orientation. Individuals under age 12 are not permitted to attend or otherwise participate in any Group X class and/or use the Rec Center’s fitness equipment under any circumstances.

Youth equipment orientations last approximately 30 minutes and are free. They are available on a drop-in basis on Tuesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. Or you can schedule an orientation another time.

Youths must be accompanied to the orientation by a guardian.

After they have completed a youth equipment orientation and are ready to use the equipment or take a class, they must check in at the fitness desk upon each visit to receive a youth access wristband.
