City Hall Art Gallery

Lenexa’s City Hall Art Gallery showcases local and regional artists. Shows rotate about every month and feature a wide array of art styles.

Receptions typically take place on the first Thursday of an exhibit’s debut. These receptions are open to the community and are a great way to learn more about the artists, their inspiration and process.

Some art is available for purchase. Check with the receptionist or the artist’s bio book at the exhibit to learn more.

The Lenexa Arts Council hosts and organizes about 10 exhibits in the City Hall Art Gallery each year.

Art Exhibit: Tales from the Heart

March 31–April 26, 2026 — Bryce Holt’s acrylics explore memory and emotion, while Clarissa Knighten’s sculptures reveal the quiet presence in everyday forms.

Art Exhibit: Echoes in the Ordinary

April 28–May 25, 2026 — Dean Kube’s paintings reveal the emotional presence in everyday objects, while Cecilia Labora’s glass jewelry captures light and form.

Art Exhibit: De l’Eau (Of Water)

May 27–July 5, 2026 — Brian Divelbiss captures water’s movement and reflection, while Mark Thorson’s ceramics add a tactile, sculptural dimension.

Art Exhibit: JCDS Emerging Artists

July 7–Aug. 9, 2026 — Explore the vibrant creativity of emerging artists with developmental disabilities in the Johnson County Developmental Supports program.

Art Exhibit: Lenexa Artists' Show

Aug. 11–Sept. 27, 2026 — A collection of art in a variety of forms and mediums by Lenexa residents.

Art Exhibit: Form and Imagination

Sept. 29–Oct. 25, 2026 — Ceramics by Kim Pjecha and giclee prints of digital images by Robert Kohlar.

Calls for artists

Solo or Shared Exhibit Call for Artists

The City Hall Art Gallery rotates exhibits on nearly a monthly basis. If you would like to have your 2D or 3D work considered for a solo or shared exhibit, you are invited to apply. We select art based on artistic and cultural significance that encourages public education and appreciation of the arts. We also look for art that demonstrates professional excellence and creativity, taking into consideration general standards of decency and respect for cultural diversity.

Place of Peace Veterans Art Exhibit Call for Artists

We’re giving veterans a creative outlet and a way to process their experience and community members an opportunity to support and learn from them. This fall, the Lenexa Arts Council and the Arts Council of Johnson County will present Place of Peace at the City Hall Art Gallery. We’re seeking veterans — from all military branches and artistic levels — to submit art for consideration.
